Anita Ekberg

Marianne (Swedish pronunciation (listen) 29/09/1931 to 11/01/2015) was a
Swedish actress, well-known for her stunning beauty and striking silhouette.
Her performance as Sylvia, in Federico Fellini's movie La Dolce Vita (1960)
became well-known. Ekberg mostly worked in Italy and became a permanent
resident in 1964.Anita Ekberg was born on 29 September 1931 in (Sweden), the
eighth child in a family of eight. In her teens, Anita worked as a fashion
model. As per the requests by her mother, Ekberg was a contestant in Miss Malmo
in 1950. She was crowned the Miss Sweden contest. Even though she spoke little
English Ekberg traveled to the United States to compete in the Miss Universe
1951 title. It was an non-official pageant at the time. The pageant officially
became officially recognized in 1952. While Ekberg didn't win the Miss Universe
pageant, as one of the six finalists she did get an actress' contract with
Universal Studios. Ekberg was a Universal starlet, where she learned drama,
elocution and dancing. She appeared briefly in The Mississippi Gambler (1953),
Abbott and Costello go to Mars (1953), Take Me to Town (1953), and The Golden
Blade (53).
