Pom Klementieff

Pom Klementieff (born 3 May 1986) is a French actress. She studied at the Cours Florent drama school, Paris. She has been in films like Loup 2009, Sleepless Night 2011 and Hacker's Game 2015. She appears as Mantis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (1999). Pom Klementieff was the child of two parents: a Korean mother and a French-Russian father. Her father was a consul of Quebec City, Canada. Eugene Klementieff, a painter was her grandpa. Her parents picked the name "Pom" due to the fact that it's identical in pronunciation to Korean words for both "spring" and "tiger". Klementieff lived in Canada for a time of one year, before her family travelled extensively because of her father's work. Prior to making the move to France, they lived in Japan as well as on the Ivory Coast. Klementieff's father died of cancer when she was 5, and her mother had schizophrenia and was unable to take care of children which is why Klementieff was raised by her aunt and uncle who were paternal. Her uncle, who she stated in her own words as "like [her] first father," died on Klementieff’s 18th birthday. Her older brother committed suicide seven years later. This time, it happened on her birthday, which was on the 25th. Klementieff had the opportunity to study law following the passing of her uncle, however she did not find this career choice appealing. She also worked as salesperson and waitress in France. Her first acting experience began when she was just 19 at the Cours Florent theatre school in Paris. She was just one month into studying when she was awarded a theater contest that granted her free two-years of classes with the top teachers in the school. Klementieff was the stepdaughter of Catherine Deneuve in Apres lui (2006) which was her first professional acting gig. The filming process took three days. One scene featured Klementieff pushing someone down a set steps, and she fell. Gael Morel saved that scene for the final film. Her first role as a lead actor was in Loup (2009), a French film about a tribe of reindeer herders located in the Siberian mountains. Klementieff filmed for hours at a camp far from the closest village. The temperature plummeted to below zero during filming.
